Our Eye Center at Nassau University Medical Center provides a complete range of eye care and specialty ophthalmological services, including highly sophisticated diagnostic and treatment technologies not often found in commercial eye care centers. In addition to direct patient care, our specialized physicians are experts in managing the full range of eye diseases. They are often consulted on complex cases referred by other ophthalmologists, optometrists, and health care providers.

Available technologies include:

  • Argon and Micropulse Laser brand new, state-of-the-art laser for treatment of retinal pathology and glaucoma
  • Corneal Topography detail the external shape of the cornea allowing more accurate evaluation and treatment
  • Digital Fluorescein Angiography and Fundus Photography to help diagnose and evaluate retinal diseases more efficiently
  • Full Hospital Laboratory at NuHealth Eye Center our physicians have the ability to perform special cultures, blood work, and viral testing all without leaving the building
  • Full Hospital Radiology Dept MRI and CT scanning of the eye and brain are available 24 hours a day
  • Humphrey Visual Field Testing to help specifically characterize a potential defect in a particular region of vision
  • Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) to help evaluate all structures of the eye, from the cornea to the choroid in microscopic detail
  • Ocular Ultrasound to examine the back of the eye in patients whose eyes are swollen shut or who have cloudy ocular media, such as cataracts, corneal clouding, or blood inside the eye
  • Tear Osmolarity Testing useful in diagnosing different causes of dry eye
  • YAG Laser for the treatment of patients at risk for narrow angle glaucoma and post cataract opacities
