An Extra Measure of Care
The Nassau University Medical Center Ambulance Division provides care and monitoring for patients requiring medically necessary and emergency-care transport. Our ambulance teams administer courteous and compassionate Advanced Life Support (ALS), as well as Basic Life Support (BLS).

Advanced Life Support Services
NUMC’s ALS services include advanced patient care by our highly skilled state-certified Critical Care EMTs and Paramedics. Our fleet of modern ambulances, also state-certified, is equipped with a full complement of ALS monitoring and life support equipment, including:

  • Advanced Cardiac Monitoring
  • End-tidal CO2 Monitoring
  • Defibrillation
  • Synchronized Cardioversion
  • Transcutaneous Pacing
  • Portable Ventilators
  • I.V. Infusion Pumps
  • ALS Pharmaceuticals

Basic Life Support Services
For those patients who require basic medical care and monitoring, NUMC staffs all BLS ambulances with at least two certified emergency medical technicians (EMT) qualified to provide a wide range of treatment, monitoring and life support measures, including:

  • Automatic External Defibrillation
  • BLS Pharmaceuticals
  • Vital-Signs Monitoring
  • Airway Management

When and Where You Need Us
Both ALS and BLS ambulances are on call through our in-house dispatching system with trained phone operators. Our services include home-to-hospital, inter-facility or hospital-to-home transport. We are also available as your exclusive ambulance service for special-event coverage or for standby services.
