The New York State Department of Health sponsors a number of grass roots organizations that specialize in cancer support and wellness guidance. Many have cancer survivors in decision-making roles within the organizations. Through these medical advocates, patients can access cancer-screening service providers, and enroll in cancer treatment programs, at little or no charge, if eligibility requirements are met. To be connected to free breast-, cervical-, or colorectal-cancer screening, diagnosis, treatment and support services in your community, please call our toll free number— 1-866-442-CANCER (1-866-442-2262).
