Pediatric Emergency Department

Children are a special priority at NuHealth — that’s why Nassau University Medical Center has its own Pediatric Emergency Department, which is staffed by physicians board-certified in Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Emergency Medicine. Our extraordinary staff of pediatric nurses and other professionals routinely handle the worst of traumas with both compassion and cool efficiency, never forgetting that their patients — and parents — are frightened and need comfort as well as medical attention.

Nassau University Medical Center also has a Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect (SCAN) Unit, and all staff members are trained to identify signs of physical or sexual abuse in the children they treat. In fact, our SCAN Unit is a model for similar programs developed in hospitals throughout New York State.
