NASSAU UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER’S KENNETH J. STEIER, DO, MPH, MHA SELECTED TO SERVE ON FDA PANEL

Kenneth J. Steier, DO, MPH, MHA, Associate Professor of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine, Nassau University Medical Center (NUMC), has been selected to serve as a consultant on the Anesthesiology and Respiratory Therapy Devices Panel of the Medical Devices Advisory Committee, Center for Devices and Radiological Health, Food and Drug Administration (FDA). 

The Food and Drug Administration oversees approval of all drugs and medical devices in the United States.  The Anesthesiology and Respiratory Therapy Devices Panel of the FDA reviews new drug and medical device application in these areas.

Upon learning of Dr. Steier’s appointment, Arthur Gianelli, President/CEO of the Nassau Health Care Corporation said: “We congratulate Dr. Steier on being selected to serve on the Anesthesiology and Respiratory Therapy Devices FDA panel.  He has been selected from among pulmonary specialists across the United States to serve on this panel, which meets quarterly in Washington, DC at FDA headquarters.  The panel will be reviewing new drug and medical device applications for safety and efficacy”

The appointment is considered a “federal appointment” which requires a background check and special training and is for a minimum of three years.
