NASSAU UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER’S CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY INTERNSHIP RECEIVES FIVE YEAR FULL ACCREDITATION FROM THE AMERICAN PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION

Following a review by the site surveyors from the American Psychological Association, the Nassau University Medical Center’s (NUMC) Clinical Psychology Internship has received a five year accreditation for its program.

The Clinical Psychology Internship at NUMC was begun in 1968 and has been continuously accredited by the American Psychological Association since 1971. Our internship is designed to provide advanced graduate students in clinical psychology with well-rounded, intensively supervised training in clinical psychology in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

Arthur A. Gianelli, President/CEO of the Nassau Health Care Corporation congratulated the program directors and interns by stating: “We train interns to work as practitioners informed by research and scholarly work. Our goal is to train competent and effective generalist clinicians who may also obtain specialty training during their internship year and who can provide quality psychological services to a demographically and diagnostically diverse patient population in a public medical center.”
