Nassau University Medical Center received notification this week that it had received a two-year “Continued Accreditation from the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (“ACGME)”, the largest residency training accreditation organization in the country. The Nassau University Medical Center has 285 residents in 20 different training programs. Academic Medical Centers that train residents, such as NUMC, include hospitals such as the May Clinic, Cleveland Clinic and the Massachusetts General Hospital, which are considered some of the best hospitals in the United States.

Arthur A. Gianelli, President/CEO of the Nassau Health Care Corporation stated in congratulating the residents and facility: “We are proud of our residents and the faculty that teach them, and the administration that supports the infrastructure of these fine programs.” The Dean of Academic Affairs at NUMC, Dr. Ken Steier, states that this accreditation award “demonstrates that NUMC residency training programs are the highest quality and meet the extremely rigorous standards of the ACGME.”
