Nassau University Medical Center Opens New Surgical  Patient Wing at Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

New Surgical Wing Part of Comprehensive Plan to Enhance Patient Services, Improve Revenue

(EAST MEADOW, NY) – As part of an ongoing modernization program for Nassau County’s largest public safety-net hospital and only level one trauma center, Nassau University Medical Center (NUMC) has opened a new 8th West Surgical Unit, which is set to bring in more than $6 million in annual revenue.

The wing, which features eight patient rooms capable of treating 16 additional patients, marks a significant milestone in NUMC’s commitment to enhancing healthcare services and improving the hospital’s revenue streams. This development follows NUMC’s recent introduction of the state-of-the-art Magnetom Altea 1.5T MRI system, which is poised to serve thousands of patients each year.

“Since I became chairman, NHCC’s leadership has made a dedicated effort to modernize and enhance the facilities at NUMC and improve the level of care we provide to the county’s most vulnerable. We are proud to open a new, state-of-the-art surgical wing. This new asset will not only improve patient care but also boost needed revenue that ensures the hospital can continue to fulfill its state-mandated mission, ‘providing care to everyone regardless of their ability to pay.’ Over the past year, we have made continued improvements, and this is another major milestone,” Nassau Health Care Corporation Board Chairman Matthew J. Bruderman.

NUMC also recently introduced the advanced Magnetom Altea 1.5T MRI system. Having state-of-the-art equipment means our diagnostic capabilities are the best possible in the field, which benefits the thousands of patients we serve annually. Our unwavering dedication to delivering the highest quality care remains steadfast.”

Serving the most diverse patient population in the county, with 70 percent relying on Medicare or Medicaid, NUMC remains an indispensable healthcare asset for our communities.
