NASSAU HEALTH CARE CORPORATION ACHIEVES FULL ACCREDITATION STATUS BY THE JOINT COMMISSION ON ACCREDITATION OF HEALTH CARE ORGANIZATIONS FOLLOWING THE APRIL 2007 RESURVEY

East Meadow, NY … Arthur A. Gianelli, President/CEO of the Nassau Health Care Corporation (NHCC) announced that the NHCC had achieved full accreditation status following a two-day on site resurvey which occurred on April 17th and 18th 2007 by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO).  The April 2007 JCAHO resurvey followed a previous survey in May 2006 in which the NHCC was temporarily placed on conditional accreditation.

Upon being notified of achieving full JCAHO accreditation, Mr. Gianelli commended the staff for providing the hard work and excellent level of care that enabled the institution to receive full accreditation.

The Nassau Health Care Corporation, comprised of Nassau University Medical Center, a level I trauma center and teaching hospital, A. Holly Patterson Extended Care Facility, a skilled nursing home and the various Community Health Centers, provides over 75,000 annual Emergency Department visits and 300,000 clinic visits yearly.

The JCAHO, formed in 1951, is dedicated to improving the quality of the national’s health care through voluntary accreditation.
