A Holly Patterson Named Top 5 in New York Nursing Homes by Newsweek, Statistica

EAST MEADOW, NY— A. Holly Patterson Extended Care Facility is one of America’s Best Nursing Homes for 2022, according to surveys conducted by Statistica and presented by Newsweek. The ranking is based on performance data, peer recommendations, and A. Holly Patterson’s handling of the COVID-19 pandemic compared to in-state competition. The Long Island extended care center is nationally recognized as a skilled nursing facility that provides innovative, holistic care to residents.

A. Holly Patterson Extended Care Facility has been recognized as one of the top five nursing homes in New York for 2022, marking the second consecutive year the facility has earned this ranking. This prestigious award is presented by Newsweek and Statista Inc., the world-leading statistics portal and industry ranking provider.

“This amazing award is a testament to our team’s hard work over the past year,” said facility Director Dr. Javida Rizvon. She commended her staff’s outstanding commitment to residents’ physical and emotional well-being throughout the pandemic, when family visitation was prohibited in accordance with CDC guidelines. “Communicating with families was not always an easy task,” she explained. “Many of our residents’ families don’t have iPhones or iPads. Our staff downloaded apps in Korean, Chinese, and Spanish so our residents could see and chat with their loved ones. They went above and beyond to keep them safe and support them,” she said. She also thanked the families for their patience and understanding of difficult circumstances throughout the pandemic.

The Newsweek award is one of A. Holly Patterson’s many achievements in the past year. The Long Island care center celebrated 60 years of service to Nassau County residents, primarily those who are un- or under-insured, in 2021. Dr. Rizvon was honored at Nassau County’s Office of Asian Affairs’ 2021 India Independence Day Celebration for her promotion of diversity and contributions to the community. For example, Dr. Rizvon was instrumental in the launch of A. Holly Patterson’s Asian Long-Term Care Unit, which provides culturally informed care to Chinese, Korean, Bangladeshi and Indian residents. A. Holly Patterson is one of the few nursing homes on Long Island that provides culturally informed care to elderly residents of Asian and/or Asian-American descent.

The Best Nursing Homes 2022 ranking lists the best nursing homes in the 25 states with the highest population size according to The United States Census Bureau.
