PAUL WEINBERG, MD, APPOINTED CHAIRMAN OF ANESTHESIOLOGY AT THE NASSAU HEALTH CARE CORPORATION

Combination of Leadership Skills and Extensive Experience in the Field of Anesthesiology

Arthur A. Gianelli, President/CEO of the Nassau Health Care Corporation and Steven J.Walerstein, M.D., Senior Vice President for Medical Affairs, announced the appointment of Paul Weinberg, MD, to the position of Chairman of Anesthesiology at Nassau University Medical Center (NUMC.).

“We are delighted to have been successful in recruiting someone with Dr. Weinberg’s leadership qualities and expertise in the field of anesthesiology to assist us in meeting our challenges and fulfilling our goals in the Anesthesiology Department.  One of Dr. Weinberg’s priorities will be to enhance and expand the anesthesiology and operating rooms component of the corporation and better integrate that with the overall mission of the hospital,” said Mr. Gianelli.

The new Chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology at the Nassau University Medical Center, Dr. Paul Weinberg comes to us after spending close to twenty years in the St. Vincent’s Catholic Medical Center System.

A graduate of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine with Distinction in Research in Cardiology, Dr. Weinberg did his post-graduate education in Anesthesiology at NYU Medical Center and a Fellowship Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology at Albert Einstein.

Dr. Walerstein added:  “Dr. Weinberg is well known as a medical educator and as a leader in anesthesiology having served with distinction as Director of the Department of Anesthesiology at Mary Immaculate Hospital.  We are fortunate to have recruited someone with his extensive experience.”

As Managing Partner of Boulevard Anesthesia Associates, in addition to being responsible for providing anesthesia services for the four Brooklyn and Queens Hospitals of Catholic Medical Center, Dr. Weinberg expanded anesthesia services to outpatient facilities and also was the Medical Director and Director of Anesthesiology of the Queens Surgical Community Center.

Most recently, Dr. Weinberg, who resides in Woodmere, was the Director of the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Management at Mary Immaculate Hospital in Jamaica, Queens, a Level 1 Trauma Center in an inner city environment.
