Nursing Education

Nursing Education

At NuHealth, we respect and appreciate the extraordinary challenge of nursing today. Our nursing staff may work at Nassau University Medical Center, A. Holly Patterson Extended Care Facility or our Family Health Centers. We ensure our nursing staff has the tools they need to be fully competent caregivers.

NuHealth Department of Nursing is committed to a comprehensive educational program with the ultimate goal of providing patients with quality care, improved patient outcomes and increased patient satisfaction.

Orientation

All new members of NuHealth’s nursing staff complete a basic course of orientation to familiarize them with NuHealth’s mission, vision and goals. In addition, standards of practice, policies and procedures, service-specific training and hands-on participation with technological equipment.

Continuous Staff Development

Mandatory and voluntary educational opportunities keep our staff informed of the latest evidence-based practices and demonstration of associated skills.

Nursing Educational Activities include:

  • Nursing Grand Rounds
  • BLS Classes
  • Competency Assessment
  • Stroke Management
  • Crisis Management and Provision

The Department of Nursing Education is also a provider of ANCC continuing education credits.

Preceptorship

NuHealth preceptors help bridge the gap between nursing theory and practice, providing both practical help and the invaluable perspective that comes from years of experience doing a difficult job well.

Our Preceptorship Program pairs nurses with experienced professionals who share their knowledge and expertise to prepare clinically competent nursing staff.

NuHealth Department of Nursing provides a variety of clinical educational opportunities for nursing students enrolled in RN and LPN programs across Long Island. We work closely with program directors at several colleges in the region, tailoring clinical experiences that help ensure tomorrow’s nurses will be up to the challenge.
