NHCC CELEBRATES HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGEMENT WEEK NOVEMBER 4TH TO 10TH

The Nassau Health Care Corporation Medical Records Department employees, the caretakers of all medical information for Nassau’s public health system, gather with their director Petra Freese, to celebrate Health Information Management Week by posing for a group photo outside the Nassau University Medical Center main entrance.

As the Nassau Health Care Corporation evolves into all electronic records, medical records employees presently maintain medical information in various forms, including paper, electronic, scanned images and old microfilm. According to the American Health Information Management Association’s position statement on data quality, ” Healthcare quality and safety require that the right information be available at the right time to support care and health system management decisions.”

In congratulating the employees in the department of medical records, Arthur A. Gianelli, president/CEO, extended his best wishes and appreciation for all their diligent work in maintaining all medical information: “A complete, timely, accurate and comprehensive medical record is the key to good patient care and patient safety. You are to be commended for your diligence as these same elements directly impact the corporation medically, financially, and legally at every level of healthcare.”
