NASSAU UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER’S KAMIL JAGHAB, MD, NAMED ONE OF THE NEW YORK AREA’S BEST DOCTORS IN BEST DOCTORS IN AMERICA 2007-2008 DATABASE

East Meadow, NY….Kamil Jaghab, MD, NUMC’s clinical director in the forensic mental health clinic, has been named one of the New York area’s Best Doctors, as published in the Best Doctors in America 2007-2008 database.

According to Best Doctors, the selection process was a yearlong process, with questionnaires sent to thousands of top physicians in the New York area.  Nominees were sought in almost every specialty, with the emphasis on direct patient care.  Dr. Jaghab specializes in the field of psychiatry, forensic medicine and pain management.

Dr. Jaghab, had been previously named in the Best Doctors in America and had been also listed in the New York Best Physicians in 2004.

Joining NUMC as the director of consultation liaison service in October 1993, he served in that capacity until 2007 when he became the clinical director in the forensic mental health clinic at NUMC.  He was the psychiatry residency program director from 2004 until 2006.  Elected as a CSEA vice president in 2004, he also served as president of the medical staff at the Nassau Health Care Corporation since 2006.

Dr. Jaghab completed his post-residency doctoral fellowship at Columbia University in New York City and two post-residency fellowships at SUNY Stony Brook, one in consultation psychiatry and psychosomatic medicine and the other in pain medicine.

An associate professor of clinical psychiatry at SUNY Stony Brook , Dr. Jaghab has over ten recent publications and a pending book chapter.  Dr. Jaghab is a diplomate of the American board of psychiatry, addiction psychiatry, forensic medicine, hospital physicians, ethical physicians, disability analysts and psychosomatic medicine, in addition to being a diplomate of the American Academy of pain management.
