ALBERT FAUROSS, PHD, NUMC’S VICE CHAIR OF PSYCHIATRY AND BEHAVIORAL SCIENCE DEPARTMENT AT NUMC, RETIRING AFTER 39 YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE

Albert Fauross, Ph.D. will be retiring from NUMC on December 30, 2007 after 39 years of outstanding service. Arthur Gianelli, Dr Walerstein, Dr Rao, and over 100 distinguished guests attended Dr. Fauross’ retirement party on Nov. 1, 2007 held at the Westbury Manor.

In congratulating Dr. Fauross on his upcoming retirement, Mr. Gianelli said: “You are to be commended for having devoted yourself to NUMC’s patients during the last 39 years. Your patients and our staff have all benefited from your expertise, compassion and commitment to excellence in delivering quality psychiatric service.”

Dr Fauross graduated from New York University in 1964 with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology. He then went on to earn his Ph.D. from Adelphi University in 1974. He served an internship at the Institute for the Crippled and Disabled (now ICD Institute). His first job after graduate school was at Meadowbrook Hospital (now NUMC) in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He then went on to work in the Department of Psychiatry and Psychology at NUMC as a staff psychologist in the inpatient psychiatric service. He has devoted himself to NUMC for the last 39 years, moving up the ranks to inpatient chief psychologist in 1981, to Psychologist-in-Chief in 2000, and to Vice Chair for Administrative Affairs in 2006.  Dr Fauross also had a private psychotherapy practice from 1986 to 2000.
