East Meadow, NY……..Arthur A. Gianelli, President/CEO of the Nassau Health Care Corporation, announced that Stanislav Avshalumov, DO,MD, has joined the Total Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, LLP, serving as the director of joint replacement and hip preservation surgery.
Gianelli welcomed Dr. Avshalumov to NUMC and said: “We are pleased that we were successful in recruiting Dr. Avshalumov to the Total Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine group at NUMC, where our patients will benefit immensely from his exceptional expertise in the management of joint replacement and hip preservation surgery. He will be a worthy addition to NUMC.”
Dr. Avshalumov has extensive experience in orthopaedic trauma, especially trauma of the hip. He maintains an academic role, having authored and co-authored numerous papers and being an active researcher. Dr. Avshalumov completed his medical education in Russia at Astrakhan Medical Academy and at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in May 2003, performing his postgraduate training in orthopaedic surgery residency at Peninsula Medical Center in Far Rockaway, New York from 2003 until 2008, receiving honors as intern of the year and chief intern.
He completed a fellowship in joint preservation, resurfacing and replacement at Washington University Orthopaedics in St. Louis, Missouri, at Barnes Jewish Hospital, in July 2009. During Dr. Avshalumov’s fellowship, he participated in over 750 joint surgeries and is well versed in the latest procedures and innovative practices of not only joint replacement but joint replacement as well. His clinical interests include total joint replacement surgery, total hip resurfacing, minimally invasive hip and knee replacement and revision total joint replacement. In addition he specializes in arthroscopic surgery of the hip and hip disorders of the adolescents and young adults.
