East Meadow, NY… Arthur A. Gianelli, President/CEO of the NuHealth System, announced that Rosemarie Guercia, MD, a member of the NuHealth board of directors, has been recognized by the United Hospital Fund for her exemplary service and enormous contribution while serving on the NuHealth board for almost a decade.
“Please join me in congratulating Dr. Rosemary Guercia upon being recognized by the United Hospital Fund for her service as a Director of the NuHealth System. Dr. Guercia follows Dr. Miner, who received this honor last year. Both Dr. Miner and Dr. Guercia give considerably of their time and expertise, and their active involvement over the years has demonstrably improved both the quality of care we provide, but also the way we provide such care in ambulatory settings. We are lucky to have them both”
Among the award recipients are prominent leaders in business, medicine, education and law, as well as those involved in human services and volunteerism. The trustees were nominated by their respective institutions, which include community hospitals, academic medical centers and public hospitals representing all five boroughs of New York City and nearby communities in both New York and New Jersey.
Dr. Guercia is a former Deputy Commissioner of the Nassau County Department of Health. She is a past president of the Long Island Coalition for a National Health Plan, a co-director of the Long Island Health Access Monitoring Project and vice president of the New York State Public Health Association- Long Island Region and a trustee of NuHealth since 2006. She is a graduate of New York Medical College. Following her residency training in pediatrics, Dr. Guercia had a private practice and served in New York City and Nassau well baby and pediatric clinics, prior to her joining the Nassau County Department of Health in an administrative capacity. She is a member of many health-related and other community based boards and committees and has received numerous awards.
“Often, voluntary leaders are in a unique position to bring specialized knowledge and expertise to the table, to be sensitive to community needs, and to focus attention on specific issues and concerns from a different perspective. The leaders honored are among the region’s best at guiding their institutions when help has been needed most. That’s why we feel privileged to have this opportunity to recognize the exemplary efforts of Dr. Guercia,” concluded Gianelli.
