ROGER SIMPSON, MD, FACS, JOINS 10 OTHER NUMC PHYSICIANS INCLUDED IN U.S. NEWS AND WORLD REPORT’S LIST OF TOP DOCTORS 2011

East Meadow, NY… Arthur A. Gianelli, President/CEO of the NuHealth System is pleased to announce that Roger Simpson, MD, FACS, director of the burn center at the Nassau University Medical Center and a board-certified plastic surgeon at Long Island Plastic Surgical Group (LIPSG) has been included in U.S. News and World Report’s List of Top Doctors 2011, along with ten other NUMC physicians.  Dr. Simpson is a specialized expert in eyelid surgery, liposuction and body contouring, cosmetic surgery-face and breast as well as burn care.

“Dr. Simpson truly deserves to be recognized among the top of the plastic surgery field,” said Gianelli. “He exemplifies what we look for in all our surgeons – the brightest minds, incredible technical skill and the highest level of dedication to patient care.”

Dr. Simpson has been the Director of the Residency Training Program in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Nassau University Medical Center (NUMC) for the last 20 years. He is also Chief of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Director of the Burn Center and Chief of the Hand Surgery Service at NUMC. Dr. Simpson is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Surgery at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. Dr. Simpson also directs LIPSG’s Center for Facial Paralysis where he provides state-of-the-art, life-altering surgery to restore function to patients’ paralyzed facial nerves caused by stroke, disease or traumatic injury. Dr. Simpson also focuses on burn reconstruction and hand surgery as well as performing general plastic and reconstructive surgery.

U.S. News Top Doctors was created in collaboration with Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., publisher of America’s Top Doctors and other consumer health guides. It draws from Castle Connolly’s database of Top Doctors, all recommended for their clinical skills by other doctors and individually vetted by a physician-led research team. Consumers can search for a Top Doctor by location, hospital affiliation, and a full range of specialties and subspecialties. For decades, the Best Hospitals rankings have helped guide patients who need an especially high level of care to hospitals that excel in providing it. Top Doctors has a similar mission, helping consumers find the doctors in their area who come highly recommended by other physicians.

Castle Connolly assembled the roster of Top Doctors by soliciting nominations from physicians in academic medical centers, specialty hospitals, and regional hospitals and physicians in private practice. Its research team then reviewed each nominee’s training, achievements, and appointments, among other credentials.
