ROBERT A. BENRUBI, COUNSEL TO THE CEO OF THE NUHEALTH SYSTEM, HONORED BY THE VICTIMS INFORMATION BUREAU OF SUFFOLK

East Meadow, NY… Robert. A. Benrubi, counsel to Arthur A. Gianelli, President/CEO of the NuHealth System, was an honoree at the 16th Annual Victims Information Bureau of Suffolk (VIBS) Golf Classic on October 13, 2011at the Huntington Crescent Club.  Mr. Benrubi was honored for his community service and support of the important work that VIBS does in the community, primarily helping families that are suffering the effects of domestic violence and those who have experienced the horror of sexual assault.  In addition to Robert Benrubi, Ken Gaul, CEO, Woodhaven Center of Care, was also an honoree.  Each year, VIBS Family Violence and Rape Crisis Center hosts a golf tournament honoring community leaders who understand and support the work that VIBS does in the community.

“It is a privilege to have been selected as an honoree at by VIBS.  This event raises much needed funds to help VIBS provide essential and vital services to help victims of a very severe and horrible problem in our community – those that have experienced or are experiencing the horrors of domestic violence and sexual assault. said Benrubi.  “The Victims Information Bureau of Suffolk assists survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault; works to prevent these crimes through education and services; and raises community awareness of the need for justice and compassion for victims.”

VIBS works toward creating communities of safe and loving homes, healthy and abuse-free relationships and a social climate that discourages abuse and restores dignity to survivors.  This vision has sustained VIBS’ work since 1976 and has inspired innovative programs for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.  Through counseling, advocacy and hotline services, VIBS first attends to the safety of victims.  Whether through support groups for teens or home visits to the elderly, survivors begin to realize the power they have over their own lives.  Through outreach, education and community awareness, we spread our sense of hope for life without fear and violence.  Recently there has been an increase in the demand for the services VIBS offers, especially in response to instances of sexual assault.  The proceeds from VIBS Golf Classic will support these vital services and help VIBS continue its work towards creating a future where violence in interpersonal relationships is not tolerated and healthy family relationships are nurtured.
