East Meadow, New York… At a reception hosted by the employees of the Nassau University Medical Center, Ramoncito Yambao, kitchen supervisor, was honored as the January 2008 Employee of the Month.  In presenting him with a plaque in appreciation for his dedication and his commitment to serving as a role model for others, Arthur A. Gianelli, President/CEO of the Nassau Health Care Corporation said:  “We are delighted to honor you as Employee of the Month, a well-deserved recognition for your commitment to service with compassion, dedication and promoting a pleasant working experience.  You continue to exceed expectations, taking the lead to meet the dietary needs of our customers, patients and employees.”

Ramoncito Yambao, Sonny as he is known by all in the Food and Nutrition Department and hospital, has been employed at the Medical Center since July of 1993.  He began his employment as a cook and was promoted to the position he presently holds, kitchen supervisor, about eight years ago.
His early training and education were in the Philippines where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Management. Shortly after college, he started his cooking career at the Philippines General Hospital.

Mr. Gianelli added: “Sonny is, simply said, “the jack of all trades” and willing to help whenever he can.  Cooking, catering, problem solving, food ordering, he genuinely tries to help to make others happy and wants the best outcome for our patients and employees.”
