PAUL J. ROWLAND, NHCC SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT AND COO, RE-ELECTED TO THE IPRO BOARD OF DIRECTORS, SERVING AS CHAIR OF THE BOARD COMPENSATION COMMITTEE

East Meadow, NY…. Paul J. Rowland, Nassau Health Care Corporation senior vice president and chief operating officer, has been re-elected to the IPRO board of directors for the 2009/2010 term, serving as chairperson of the board compensation committee.

In a letter dated June 25, 2009, Thomas J. Sheehy, Jr., MD, IPRO President, stated:  “Congratulations on your re-election to the IPRO board of directors, serving as chair of the board compensation committee.  IPRO continues to grow into its role as a national leader in the field of health care quality improvement, and we appreciate your service and contributions to our organization.”

IPRO is one of the largest and most experienced health care quality review and improvement organizations in the United States, assessing and improving the value of health care services through the use of innovative methods and technologies.  IPRO’s professional staff includes more than 350 physicians, registered nurses, epidemiologists, health policy analysts, data analysts, biostatisticians, medical records analysts and systems analysts, as well as a network of more than 300 board-certified physician consultants.

Paul J. Rowland, FACHE, a highly regarded and effective healthcare administrator who served during the last five years as the Vice President/Chief Operating Officer (COO) for the Nassau Suffolk Hospital Council, was named Chief Operating Officer on June 8, 2007 of the Nassau Health Care Corporation (NHCC), a health system comprised of Nassau University Medical Center, A. Holly Patterson Extended Care Facility and various Community Health Centers located throughout Nassau County.

Mr. Rowland has accepted the COO position at the NHCC and agreed to return to Nassau University Medical Center where he served in various positions, including COO, over a decade ago. A leader with extensive healthcare, hospital and human service senior management experience, he brings a wealth of highly effective interpersonal and management skills gained over a long and distinguished career.  Mr. Rowland is responsible for the NHCC’s day-to-day operations with administrative responsibility for policy and procedure, support services, planning and construction, human resources, information technology, and business process redesign.

Mr. Rowland, a West Sayville resident, and a Fellow of the American College of the Healthcare Executives, earned his Bachelor’s in Psychology from Fordham College and his Master’s from Fordham University Graduate School of Social Service concentrating on Public Policy, Planning and Research. A member of many professional societies and organizations, including being on the board of LI Multiple Sclerosis chairing their Programs Committee, Mr. Rowland has taught at the Master’s level and participated in extensive speaking and consulting engagements.
