NUMC’S TOSHIMASA CLARK, MD, RECEIVES TRAINEE RESEARCH PRIZE FROM THE 2010 RADIOLOGICAL SOCIETY OF NORTH AMERICA SCIENTIFIC ASSEMBLY AND ANNUAL MEETING

East Meadow, NY… Thoshimasa Clark, MD, a radiology resident at the Nassau University Medical Center, one of 24 radiology residents worldwide to receive the prestigious prize, has been awarded the Trainee Research Prize from the Radiological Society of North America at their 2010 Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting. The poster which Dr. Clark submitted was entitled “Applications of Apple Computer’s iPad and other Tablet Computing Devices in Diagnostic Radiology”. Its co-authors include Dr. Victor Scarmato, chairman of the NUMC department of radiology, and Dr. Steven Lev, neuroradiology attending physician at NUMC. Dr. Clark was presented with the $1,000 Trainee Research Prize and a certificate.

The Trainee Research Prize is presented annually by the Radiological Society of North America at its Annual Meeting in Chicago, IL. Founded in 1915 and with over 42,000 members, the RSNA established the Trainee Research Prize in 1994. Each subcommittee of the Annual Meeting Program Committee may choose to award a prize each year to a resident, fellow, and medical student for the best paper or scientific poster submitted for consideration. Judgment is based on the scientific content of the paper or poster as presented in an extended abstract. The Trainee Research Prize consists of $1000 and a certificate indicating the name of the trainee and the title of the paper or poster, both of which are given to the individual trainee.

“Congratulations to Dr. Clark upon receiving the Trainee Research Prize at the RSNA Scientific Assembly and Annual Meeting, an important achievement and recognition for his contributions of the scientific content of his poster,” said Arthur A. Gianelli, President/CEO of the NuHealth System. “Dr. Clark is one of the 24 radiology residents worldwide who received a 2010 RSNA Trainee Research Prize. He joins researchers from England, Germany, Austria, South Korea, Japan, Canada, and throughout the United States in receiving this distinction.”

Toshimasa Clark, MD, is a resident physician in the diagnostic radiology residency program at NUMC. He completed medical school and a general surgery preliminary year in Seattle, WA at the University of Washington School of Medicine, and is planning on continuing his medical education as a fellow in 2013.
