NUMC’S STEVEN J. WALERSTEIN, MD, FACP, RECOGNIZED BY THE AMERICAN ASSOCIATION OF PHYSICIANS OF INDIAN ORIGIN
East Meadow, NY… In the presence of over 200 physicians, Steven J. Walerstein, MD, FACP, NuHealth’s executive vice president for medical affairs and medical director has been recognized by the American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin of Queens and Long Island (AAPI) for his efforts in promoting a partnership between AAPI and the American College of Physicians (ACP). Dr. Walerstein who serves as the ACP Governor, was honored with a plaque at the AAPI monthly seminar held in Garden City.
In presenting the plaque to Dr. Walerstein, Dr. Krishan Kumar, MD, FACEP, president of the AAPI-QLI, attending pediatrician at the Nassau University Medical Center (NUMC) and medical director of the Nassau County Fire Police EMS Academy, said: “We are grateful for Dr. Walerstein’s support of the AAPI, and wish to recognize him for his efforts in promoting a partnership between AAPI and ACP. He has been very supportive of AAPI members and has developed a close working relationship with many AAPI members.”
Prior to the plaque presentation, Dr. Walerstein discussed how to achieve fellowship status in the American College of Physicians and helped provide information about the ACP for those AAPI members who also wanted to become members of the ACP.
The American Association of Physicians of Indian Origin of Queens and Long Island (AAPI-QLI), a chapter of national AAPI, represents more than 600 patron members from Queens and Long Island, NY. These practicing physicians are dedicated to provide quality care to their patients in this geographic area. Besides providing best possible care to patients, our physicians are engaged in providing free health care to poor and underprivileged patients of NY and abroad. AAPIQLI regularly organizes monthly educational seminars and raises funds for the charity.
Dr. Walerstein expressed his gratitude to the AAPI members for bestowing him with such an honor: “I am humbled and honored to be recognized by AAPI and look forward to a productive and long relationship and collaboration between AAPI and ACP.
