NUMC’S PHYSICAL MEDICINE AND REHABILITATION DEPARTMENT RESIDENTS AND ATTENDINGS, CHOSEN TO PRESENT AT THE ASSOCIATION OF ACADEMIC PHYSIATRY NATIONAL MEETING IN ARIZONA, IN APRIL 2011
VERY ACADEMICALLY ORIENTED DEPARTMENT, DEDICATED TO FURTHERING THE FIELD OF MEDICINE, IN ADDITION TO PROVIDING QUALITY HEALTH CARE
East Meadow, NY…Arthur A. Gianelli, President/CEO of the NuHealth System, congratulated the residents and attendings of the department of physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) on their poster presentation recognition at the upcoming national meeting of the Association of Academic Physiatry in April 2011, in Phoenix, Arizona. Nine posters were accepted for presentation at this meeting. Cumulatively, in 2010, the PM&R staff has had one book published, four book chapters, two articles and eighteen poster presentations, while still maintaining outstanding patient care.
“Congratulations to the PM&R staff under the leadership of Lyn D. Weiss MD, for their robust year in clinical research and publications. Your numerous peer related journals and publications, dealing with the various aspects of PM&R, show how much of an academic environment exists at our teaching hospital and how much we value academic growth and research, along with ensuring the continuation of quality care for our patients,” stated Gianelli.
Dr. Weiss, whose book “Oxford Handbook of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation” was published along with Drs. Jay Weiss and Thomas Pobre in 2010, by the Oxford University Press, indicated: “I am very excited that our department is so academically talented. I am very pleased that the NuHealth System administration supports furthering academics and the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation on a national level, as we work diligently to promote excellent patient care.”
