NUMC’S PHYSICAL MEDICINE AND REHABILITATION DEPARTMENT AWARDED $10,000 BY THE AMERICAN OSTEOPATHIC FOUNDATION 2011 PARTNERS AGAINST PAIN TO PURCHASE NEW TREATMENT TABLES

East Meadow, NY… Arthur A. Gianelli, President/CEO of the NuHealth System, is pleased to announce that the Nassau University Medical Center’s Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation department (PM&R), has been awarded $10,000. The award was given by the American Osteopathic Foundation 2011 Partners Against Pain and will be used to purchase new treatment tables in the PM&R outpatient center.

“Congratulations to the PM&R staff upon receiving this grant. The new treatment tables will not only make it easier to deliver osteopathic manipulative therapy to the patients but will make it more accessible for disabled patients to get on and off the tables,” said Gianelli.

The Partners Against Pain Award rewards excellence in the field of pain management and salutes those who have made great strides in alleviating suffering of people with acute and/or chronic pain. The goal of this award is to advance pain-related research, education and treatment resulting in a better quality of life for people living with pain.

“Dr. Dowling is to be congratulated for obtaining this grant. Thank you also to Dr. Perry, Dr. Broder and Sheila Slezak for their support,” said Dr. Lyn Weiss, MD, chair of the physical medicine and rehabilitation department.
