NUMC’S MARTIN DIAMOND, DO, FACOFP, RECEIVES DISTINGUISHED SERVICE CERTIFICATE FROM AMERICAN OSTEOPATHIC ASSOCIATION FOR OUTSTANDING ACCOMPLISHMENTS
East Meadow, NY……..Arthur A. Gianelli, Acting President/CEO of the Nassau Health Care Corporation (NHCC), announced that Martin Diamond, DO, FACOFP, director of osteopathic medical education at NUMC, has received the Distinguished Service Certificate from the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). The award, in recognition of Dr. Diamond’s outstanding accomplishments in scientific, educational and professional affairs, will be presented during the opening session of the 114th AOA Osteopathic Medical Conference and Exposition in New Orleans on November 2, 2009.
In congratulating Dr. Diamond on his well-deserved award, Gianelli stated: “It is my pleasure to congratulate you on this prestigious award, granted only to deserving members for their outstanding efforts to further the osteopathic profession through education and philanthropy and for their many contributions to the osteopathic profession.”
Dr. Diamond received certification from the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians in 1973; he was recertified in 1995. Dr. Diamond practiced General Practice/Family Medicine for 35 years in Massapequa and then in Amityville, New York. He was a Director of the Osteopathic Family Practice Residency program, DME and Director of Osteopathic Medical Services at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. Dr. Diamond completed the Osteopathic Heritage Health Policy Fellowship in 2001 and became a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians in 2003.
Dr. Diamond has received numerous awards throughout his career. He served for ten years as a member of the New York State Board for Medicine and as a Chairman for the last two years. His ten-year term ended May 31, 2001 and he has been reappointed to the board as an extended member for the next two five year terms. Prior to serving on the NYS Board for Medicine, he also served for six years on the Board of Professional Medical Conduct for the State of New York. He has served as both Director and President for the New York State Osteopathic Medical Society. Dr. Diamond served as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs as well as Associate Dean for Pre-clinical Education at New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. He served as an Associate Dean for Clinical Education and Post Graduate Medical Education at the Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in California. In addition Dr. Diamond is the Founding Dean of the Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in Harlem, New York, and now Dean Emeritus.
