NUMC’S MARIANNE FRIERI, MD, PHD, FACAAI, FAAAAI, GUEST SPEAKER AT WOODHULL MEDICAL CENTER’S ASTHMA DAY

East Meadow, NY………Marianne Frieri, MD, PhD, FACAAI, FAAAAI, chief of allergy and immunology within the department of medicine at the Nassau University Medical Center, is a guest speaker at the World Asthma Day and Expo, scheduled at Woodhull Medical Center in Brooklyn, on May 17, 2012. She will be delivering a lecture for fifty health care attending physician providers and around thirty pediatric and internal medicine residents on the topic of “Asthma Diagnosis, Addressing Respiratory Symptoms and Treatment”. During her lecture, Dr. Frieri will discuss the benefits of treating allergic rhinitis, other asthma co-morbidities, quality of life, and NAEPP guidelines. She will also have the opportunity to discuss asthma and asthma medications that help patients better manage their chronic disease.

“Each year, the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) declares May to be “National Asthma and Allergy Awareness Month.” It’s a peak season for asthma and allergy sufferers, and a perfect time to educate your patients, family, friends, co-workers and others about these diseases,” stated Marianne Frieri, MD, PhD. “Each May, thousands of organizations across the U.S. join together for Asthma Awareness Month (AAM) in an effort to increase public awareness about the nation’s asthma epidemic and to take action to get asthma under control in communities nationwide.   Asthma affects almost 25 million people of all ages and races in the U.S.; however, public awareness of common asthma triggers and effective asthma management strategies remains limited.”
