NUMC’s Cardiology fellowship team attains ACGME Accreditation

Nassau University Medical Center is proud to announce that our Cardiology fellowship program, led by Dr. Roman Zeltser, fellowship program director, has attained Initial Accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.  In accordance with the ACGME’s Accreditation System and the policies set forth in its Policies and Procedures Manual, all accredited programs are reviewed annually by their relevant Review Committee. At its January 2018 meeting, the Review Committee for Internal Medicine reviewed the Cardiology fellowship program at NUMC and has given them initial accreditation. The NUMC cardiology fellowship program was initially started in 2015 as an American Osteopathic Association accredited program with the first class of fellows graduating this year.

“We are very proud of our cardiology fellowship in obtaining this accreditation and congratulate them on their hard work. ACGME accreditation is a milestone that recognizes the robust education and training that the fellows in the department of Cardiology at NUMC receive,” said Dr. Politi.

Dr. Amgad Makaryus, Chairman, Department of Cardiology stated: “It is a real honor and pleasure to work with and mentor our excellent fellows. We congratulate them and wish them the best in their future careers in the field of Cardiology.”
