NUMC’S ALICE LEE, MD, SELECTED AS ENDOCRINOLOGIST OF THE YEAR BY THE METROPOLITAN NEW YORK ASSOCIATION OF DIABETES EDUCATORS

NUMC’S ALICE LEE, MD, SELECTED AS ENDOCRINOLOGIST OF THE YEAR BY THE METROPOLITAN NEW YORK ASSOCIATION OF DIABETES EDUCATORS

 

East Meadow, NY….Alice Lee, MD, an attending physician in the division of endocrinology at the Nassau University Medical Center, has been selected as the “Endocrinologist of the Year” by the Metropolitan Association of Diabetes Educators. Dr. Lee will be honored at an awards dinner on May 9th, 2012 at the Milleridge Inn.

 

In a recent letter, Joy Pape, RN, BSN, CDE, WOCN, CFCN, FAADE, President of the Metropolitan New York Association of Diabetes Educators, congratulated Dr. Lee: “We are pleased to announce that you have been selected as the recipient of the “Endocrinologist of the Year” by the members of the Metropolitan New York Association of Diabetes Educators. This award is to acknowledge and thank you for your contributions to the lives of people with diabetes through your work and dedication.”

 

Steven J. Walerstein, MD, FACP, executive vice president for medical affairs and medical director, joined Ms. Pape in congratulating Dr. Lee on her award: “You are to be commended for your dedication and passion for the management and education of patients with diabetes and for consistently demonstrating the highest level of care during your years as a clinician at NUMC, with a goal of improving the health of all patients suffering from diabetes and metabolic disorders.”

 

Dr. Lee has worked at NUMC as an attending endocrinologist since 1990. She graduated from medical school at SUNY at Downstate Medical Center and was trained at NUMC for her internship and residency in medicine. After completing her endocrinology and metabolism fellowship at the Hospital University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Lee became board certified in medicine, endocrinology and metabolism. Dr. Lee is also a fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology. In addition to her clinical duties, she is an assistant clinical professor at SUNY at Stony Brook and affiliate associate clinical professor at St. John University. When not providing care to her patients at NUMC, Dr. Lee has a private practice, specializing in endocrinology and metabolic disorders.

 

Dr. Lee, a resident of Queens, indicated: “I am honored and humbled to have been selected as a recipient of this prestigious award and look forward to continue advocating for our diabetes patients in ensuring that they receive enhanced quality and access to care.”
