East Meadow, NY (July 19, 2017) Victor F. Politi, MD, FACP, FACEP, NuHealth/NUMC’s President/CEO, announced the appointment of Dr. Reham Abdou of Westbury, a pediatric gastroenterologist, board certified in general pediatrics, as their newest physician.
“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Abdou to our Level I Trauma Center and teaching hospital, where she will join hundreds other physicians, all dedicated to providing delivery of the highest level of care. She will be a wonderful addition to our health system,” said Dr. Politi.
Ms. Abdou’s background is in pediatric gastroenterology, hematology and nutrition. Ms. Abdou was previously a pediatric resident at Nassau University Medical Center before completing her pediatric gastroenterology fellowship at the University of Buffalo. She specializes in treating pediatric patients with conditions such as obesity with risk of liver disease, viral hepatitis, celiac disease and irritable bowel syndrome.
Ms. Abdou joins a team of dedicated professionals at Nassau University Medical Center’s new state-of-the-art Primary Care Center, which hosts a dedicated wing to pediatric and adolescent care, under the leadership of department chair, Dr. Krishan Kumar.
Nassau University Medical Center is a 530-bed public teaching hospital that has been the primary source of medical care for millions of Nassau County residents for 80 years. The hospital treats more than 75,000 emergency patients annually and its 80-plus outpatient specialty clinics handle almost 200,000 patient visits each year.
