NUMC Trauma Program Manager Joins New York Division of the American Trauma Society Executive Committee

East Meadow, N.Y., March 25, 2022 – Sara Cardozo-Stolberg, Trauma Program Manager and registered nurse at Nassau University Medical Center (NUMC), was elected Secretary for the 2022-2024 Executive Committee for the New York State Division of the American Trauma Society. Cardozo-Stolberg’s achievement is a testament to her long history of exceptional service in trauma care and an honor for NuHealth’s Emergency and Trauma Departments.

Nassau Health Care Corporation is proud to announce that Sara Cardozo-Stolberg, RN, was elected Secretary for the 2022-2024 Executive Committee for the New York State Division of the American Trauma Society. Cardozo-Stolberg was selected by American Trauma Society members from a pool of 6 highly qualified candidates, including Trauma Surgeons, Trauma Program Managers, and Trauma Directors in Level 1 Trauma Centers located in New York State Cardozo-Stolberg has served as the Trauma Program Manager for Nassau University Medical Centers since 2012, where is she responsible for monitoring the care of trauma patients from pre-hospital care (emergency transit) through hospital discharge.

This appointment is the most recent achievement in Cardozo-Stolberg’s successful career. She holds Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Health Care Administration and is a Registered Nurse with two certificates in trauma specialization. Cardozo-Stolberg’s expertise in trauma care is also the result of more than twenty years of experience in the field. She was part of the emergency services team that launched New York City’s trauma registry data information system in the early 1990s where she worked alongside the Trauma Director and members of the EMS Task Committee. Trauma registries like the one Cardozo-Stolberg set up in New York City remain integral to the improvement of trauma care nationwide by logging information about acute care provided to trauma patients and health outcomes. Since 2018, Cardozo-Stolberg has also served as the Administrative Lead for the New York State Trauma Committee.

Nassau University Medical Center successfully passed its second Level 1 Trauma Care Center Verification this past May of 2021.
