East Meadow, New York …… In response to local demand for flu vaccinations during the peak season of February and March, Arthur A. Gianelli, President/CEO of the Nassau Health Care Corporation, announced that the Nassau University Medical Center will offer flu vaccines to those in need since many local physicians have exhausted their supplies and there is still ample time to obtain protection by getting vaccinated.
“The Nassau County Department of Health has advised Nassau University Medical Center that many local physicians and other providers have already exhausted their flu vaccination, and therefore no longer have the ability to provide flu shots to their patients. In response to this situation, Nassau University Medical Center will offer flu shots to those in need. If your physician has exhausted his or her supply of flu vaccinations, you are welcome to obtain it at Nassau University Medical Center,” said Gianelli.
The Center for Disease Control recommends a yearly flu vaccination as the best method of protection from the flu. Locally, the flu season reaches its peak in the months of February and March, so if you have not already received a flu vaccination, it is not too late to get one now.
For adults, please visit our “Adult Omni Center” (Area 4) on the ground level of the hospital; for children between six months and under the age of 21, please visit our “Pediatric Center” on the first floor of the hospital, to receive your flu vaccine. Vaccinations are available Monday to Friday 9 am to 4 pm.
Nassau University Medical Center accepts most insurance plans and there will be no charge, other than your co-payment, for your flu shot. If your insurance plan is not one with which the hospital has contracted, or if you are uninsured, you may still receive a flu shot for $20.
You do not need to call for an appointment, and the hospital will fast-track you through this process so you can receive your flu protection and be on your way as quickly as possible.
