East Meadow, New York….In an auditorium filled with hundreds of Nassau University Medical Center employees who wanted to extend their good wishes, Larry Honold, director of information technology for the NuHealth System, was honored as the Employee of the Month.
During a very emotional presentation, several speakers, including the CSEA president for NUMC, Kenneth Nicholson, all recognized Mr. Honold’s accomplishments and thanked him for the significant impact that he has had on the NuHealth System. Ron Tomo, vice president for IT services said: “Congratulations on this well-deserved award, you are a real gentleman, with an incredible work ethic, an inspiration to us all and it has been an honor to have worked with you.”
The chief operating officer for the NuHealth System, Paul Rowland, went on to praise Mr. Honold for his dedication: “This recognition is a testament to your dedication, your impeccable character and your tenacity in dealing with your personal health battle.”
In discussing many of Larry Honold’s accomplishments while working for over fifteen years at NUMC, Gary E. Bie, executive vice president for finance, said: “We owe you a great deal of gratitude for everything that you have done to help us succeed. We honor you for the values that you have exhibited during your health challenges.”
While accepting the award, Mr. Honold said: “Thank you for nominating me and I appreciate the turnout. I have enjoyed helping people and getting the job done. You have all been very kind to me during my struggles and the entire NUMC family has been my support group during my health challenges. I thank you for everything.”
Lawrence Honold started his computer career after graduating from Grumman Data Systems. His first position landed him at The Brookdale Hospital Medical Center where he was a computer programmer.
Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center was Larry’s second hospital environment where he spent three years developing a patient questionnaire system. Larry then moved into the computer consulting world where he had various assignments for Nassau County. These jobs included reviewing the Baxter Travenal Patient System which determined the vendor was in default. He began his career at NUMC on March 1, 1995. His first position was a programmer analyst and then promoted to director of IT in 2001. Larry then took on the implementation of the American Healthware Eagle System for both front and back-end processing.
Larry additionally took on the Y2K problem which everyone thought was a hoax but required Larry & his team to change hundreds of programs to guarantee Y2K compliance. He then took on the project management role for moving the Lawson & Eagle systems to offsite or remote hosting.
Mr. Honold was one of three project managers to handle the initial install of Eclipsys. He was also the PM for Medaptus Physician Private Billing and Click View OBS Sonography. He was also involved with the Eclipsys 2008 Big Bang project. Mr. Honold is married to his beautiful bride Kathy and has two sons Larry Jr., and Kevin. His wife and son Larry, Jr., join us today in this celebration along with his brother Charles Honold and sister Nancy Barry.
