NUMC IS AWARDED ACCREDITATION BY THE MEDICAL SOCIETY OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK TO PROVIDE CONTINUING MEDICAL EDUCATION FOR PHYSICIANS

East Meadow, NY……….Victor F. Politi, MD, FACP, FACEP, NuHealth/NUMC’s President/CEO, proudly announces that the Nassau University Medical Center has applied and been awarded accreditation for two years from the Continuing Medical Education (CME) Committee of the Medical Society of the State of New York (MSSNY) based on the organization’s self-study report, evidence of performance-in-practice activity files and the accreditation interview. Provisional accreditation is only awarded to initial accreditation applicants that demonstrate compliance in the committee’s requirements. Organizations accredited for CME are required to include a statement on printed and enduring materials indicated that the activity is AMA PRA Category 1 and that completing the activity provides a specified amount of credits.

In a letter dated September 25, 2017, Dr. Pauline Hecht, Chair of the Subcommittee on Surveys of MSSNY, congratulated the staff of NUMC upon receiving accreditation: “Congratulations! The CME Committee has awarded NUMC provisional accreditation for two years, expiring on September 2019. On behalf of MSSNY’s CME, I congratulate you on your commitment to physician learning and look forward to your continued association with MSSNY.”

Dr. Politi congratulated the staff upon achieving this recognition: “This recognition is awarded by the  Medical Society of the State of New York (MSSNY) to a Continuing Medical Education provider who has shown to have high standards in medical education and quality medical care. CME activities at NUMC cover the full range of topics important to the professional development of health care practitioners. Congratulations to all involved as the CME program develops and delivers cutting edge CME programs with the goal of improving the quality, safety, and efficacy of clinical care.”

NUMC’s CME committee director Dr. Rose Young, associate director Dr. Satish Kadakia and administrator Mary Harms, stated: “Our activities are designed to enhance the professional development of physicians by augmenting clinical knowledge and competence, improving clinical performance, and promoting life-long learning. Health care professionals can use accredited CME to meet requirements for licensure, certification, credentialing, membership in professional societies, and other professional privileges.”

Dr. Politi added: “NUMC is proud to have achieved this status, and thank all our faculty, educational partners, and participants for their effort and support towards this significant achievement.”
