East Meadow, NY…..The Nassau University Medical Center Auxiliary announced that it would hold its “Heroes in Health Care 2007 Gala” on Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at 6:30 PM at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, Long Island. Chaired by Greg-Patric Martello, Esq., a member of the board of directors of the Nassau Health Care Corporation (NHCC) and a partner in the law firm Martello La Magna & Olivieri, P.C., the committee in formation has been enlisting the assistance of numerous supporters from the business and health care communities. “I am delighted to be chairing the “Heroes in Health Care 2007 Gala” and urge friends of the NHCC to support this worthwhile fundraiser to benefit the NUMC Center for Hypertension, Diabetes and Vascular Disease. Our committee is working diligently to ensure an evening of great fun, a superb reception and special entertainment,” said Mr. Martello.
This year, the gala committee has selected six outstanding supporters of the NHCC as honorees in recognition of their continued commitment and contributions to the success of Nassau’s only public health care system:

Reverend Reginald Tuggle, Pastor, Memorial Presbyterian Church, Roosevelt, President, Memorial Economic Development Corporation, Associate VP, Nassau Community College
“The honorees selected by the Gala Committee have helped the NHCC advance its initiatives, benefiting patients and residents of Nassau County, and have helped ensure access to quality health care to all regardless of ability to pay,” stated Arthur A.Gianelli, president/CEO of the NHCC. “The mission of The Center for Hypertension, Diabetes and Vascular Disease (CHDVD) is to advance the care of Nassau County residents, particularly the medically underserved and uninsured, that suffer from the intertwined epidemics of hypertension, diabetes and vascular disease that exist in our communities. This will be done through a combination of outreach education and clinical care.”
NHCC operates the Nassau University Medical Center a 530-bed tertiary care teaching hospital; the A. Holly Patterson Extended Care Facility, a 589-bed skilled nursing facility; six diagnostic and treatment centers, and a school-based clinic. It is the safety net facility in Nassau County.
