NUHEALTH’S HAITIAN RELIEF EFFORT UPDATE
Dear Employees:
I wanted to update you on our efforts to assist those who have been so severely impacted following the earthquake in Haiti. We thank you for your generous offers to help those who have endured destruction of their homes, hospitals, roads, government buildings, schools and thousands and thousands of lives.
We have been working with Dr. Angus and his organization of Haitian physicians on coordinating our efforts. Right now, the situation is very chaotic in Haiti and there are logistical difficulties with transportation. Dr. Angus, as well as a number of relief agencies, is advising us that financial donations are needed first and foremost, as these funds will help to rebuild their infrastructure. We will be having links on our website for those who wish to donate directly to a number of organizations accepting financial donations for the Haitian relief, such as www.redcross.org or www.amheny.org just to name two. For those employees who prefer not to donate funds and still wish to bring the items of water, canned food and clothing, we will continue to accept them next week and hold them until such time as we can facilitate the transport to Haiti.
We are working with Sister Maureen Chase on holding a service next week in our auditorium and will continue to offer grief counseling for any employee that requests it. Again thank you so much for your compassionate response.
