MEDIA ADVISORY—NUHEALTH OFFERS 38 DISPLACED EMPLOYEES AND FAMILIES OPPORTUNITY TO LIVE TEMPORARILY IN CAMPUS HOUSING UNITS
East Meadow, NY…Arthur A. Gianelli, President/CEO of the NuHealth System announces that NuHealth is making available unoccupied housing units on the campus of the Nassau University Medical Center, for temporary use to those 38 employees and their families, totaling 80 persons, who have suffered devastating personal losses as a result of Hurricane Sandy and who have accepted our offer of housing. NuHealth’s employees have shown spectacular dedication and professionalism during Hurricane Sandy and continue to do so now as recovery progresses. Many are now homeless; others are living in homes without heat and electricity. We are very much concerned about their welfare and have identified these severely impacted employees through our Human Resources Department. These apartments are for temporary use until they are able to secure permanent replacement accommodations. The CSEA is assisting us in this effort by providing cots and linens. Island Harvest will be providing initial food supply for these families to help them get settled in the apartments.
