NUHEALTH FOUNDATION TO RECEIVE $50,000 GRANT FROM LI COMMUNITY FOUNDATION FOR ROOSEVELT CHILDHOOD OBESITY PREVENTION PROGRAM


EAST MEADOW, NY…Arthur A. Gianelli, President/CEO of the NuHealth System and Deidra Parrish Williams, Executive Director of the NuHealth Foundation, will accept a $50,000 grant for the NuHealth Foundation from the Long Island Community Foundation. The grant is to be used to implement a childhood obesity prevention program targeting middle school students in the Roosevelt School District. Local elected officials, Roosevelt school officials, as well as LI Community Foundation Executive Director, David Okorn, will also be present during the check presentation. The NuHealth Foundation will implement a culturally sensitive educational program designed to reduce the prevalence of childhood obesity and its co-morbidities, will hold monthly educational workshops and conduct a health fair for middle school students and their parents.
