NUHEALTH FOUNDATION SPONSORS “SOUL FOOD JUNKIES” FILM SCREENING IN CONJUNCTION WITH ANTI-OBESITY INITIATIVE IN ROOSEVELT
East Meadow, NY…The NuHealth Foundation, under the leadership of Deidra Parrish Williams, executive director, along with Hofstra University and the Roosevelt Community Revitalization Group, Inc., will be sponsoring a special VIP screening of “Soul Food Junkies”, an award winning new film by New York filmmaker, Byron Hurt. The film screening and panel discussion are being hosted in conjunction with NuHealth’s anti-obesity initiative in Roosevelt. With obesity being one of the triggers for hypertension, diabetes, stroke and heart disease, becoming aware of tips for healthier eating is a way for the community to learn how to prevent these chronic illnesses. Following the screening, which will be moderated by Dr. Martine Hackett of Hofstra University, guests will enjoy a delicious soul food tasting and a lively discussion on preparing and enjoying healthy soulful foods. The panel discussion will include Chef Leisa Dent of the LL Dent Restaurant in Carle Place, NY, who will explain how to prepare healthy soul food.
