NuHealth Foundation Receives $5,000 from AAPI

EAST MEADOW, NY…This month, at its 16th annual gala AAPI (The American Association of Physicians of Indian origin) presented the NuHealth Foundation with a $5,000 check in support of the Foundation’s mission to help advance the breadth and quality of care throughout the NuHealth System.

In his remarks, AAPI president Dr. Krishan Kumar, who is a physician at Nassau University Medical Center, explained AAPI’s long-standing commitment to supporting community-based organizations. “We believe it is important to give back. It has always been a part of our focus.”

The NuHealth Foundation is working to fund growth, expansion and excellence. Recently, philanthropic gifts made it possible for NuHealth to acquire the most advanced digital mammography technology on Long Island, and to expand important obesity initiatives for at risk students in the Roosevelt Middle School.

NuHealth Foundation Executive Director, Deidra Parrish Williams says, “NuHealth is an essential part of the Long Island health care market, caring for the most vulnerable populations. We are devoted to providing every patient the absolute best care available and philanthropy is integral to our ability to that. We are grateful for AAPI’s support of our work.”

Ms. Parrish Williams also emphasized the gift’s importance in this economic climate. “Our patients have limited resources so a bad economy hits them first and hardest. With dramatic shifts in health care finance today, we owe it to our patients to enlist as much philanthropic support as we possibly can.”
