NuHealth Foundation Gala Hits Another High

Fundraising and all around participation make this the best year yet for LI’s safety net health foundation.

EAST MEADOW, NY…At a time, when many non-profits are experiencing fund-raising shortfalls, NuHealth Foundation’s 6th annual Heroes In Health gala realized a nearly 16% net gain, included several notable attendees and wowed its guests with a spirited employee flash mob.

Foundation Executive Director, Deidra Parrish Williams reflects, “Every year, the gala is a moment in time that reflects where we are and where we’re headed. This has been an extremely challenging year for all hospital systems, yet our gala was sold out and had its highest fundraising year ever. And more important than that was the wonderful show of team spirit and camaraderie among NuHealth’s talented staff.

“Without a great team, we’re nothing,” says NuHealth President and CEO, Arthur Gianelli, who is also a member of the Foundation’s board of directors. “We’ve earned several important awards and distinctions this year for patient safety, excellence in treatment of Stroke patients as well as for the reduction of central line infections. We’ve also just earned an $18million NY State grant for ongoing capital expansion. There’s a lot of progress at NuHealth and it’s our team that makes it possible.”

The highlight of the night was the employee flash mob, performed to the Black Eyed Peas’, “I Got a Feeling,” (tonight’s gonna be a good night). It was a show of employee pride. Another of the night’s highlights was a sophisticated technology system used for the auction.  Upon arrival, every attendee received a pre-programmed iTouch device pre-loaded with each of the auction’s items. Each guest’s device enabled them to bid digitally from anywhere in the venue, receive instant updates when their bid was topped, and increase their bid just by tapping their iTouch screen. The auction and devices were a huge hit.

Hosted by NuHealth Foundation and its board of directors, the event was held on June 28th 2012 at Oheka Castle. The evening brought together 420 guests, including Senator Dean Skelos, television actress Susan Lucci , community leaders, clinicians and employees, honoring Chem Rx, Long Beach NY, Dr. Charles Ruotolo, chairman, NuHealth Orthopedics. The night raised nearly $340,000, which will benefit ongoing advancements in care throughout the NuHealth System.
