NUHEALTH APPOINTS DEIDRA PARRISH WILLIAMS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE LONG ISLAND MEDICAL FOUNDATION

East Meadow, NY… Arthur A. Gianelli, President/CEO of the NuHealth System, announced the appointment of Deidra Parrish Williams as executive director of the Long Island Medical Foundation (LIMF), the philanthropic arm of the NuHealth System, an appointment effective as of September 7, 2010. In her new position, Ms. Parrish Williams will be responsible for advancing LIMF’s mission, which is to generate philanthropic support for the NuHealth System via a range of innovative fundraising and initiatives, including an annual fund program, a major gift program, a grateful patient program, and a corporate and foundation program. She will also play a lead role in directing NuHealth’s marketing communications activities in an effort to showcase its extraordinary medical staff, state of the art programs, community-centric model and commitment to the Long Island community.

“Deidra is a recognized leader in fundraising programs, community relations and communication strategies,” said Gianelli, adding that, “NuHealth is an essential institution, which, like major healthcare systems in other regions, needs the philanthropic support of its community in order to continue advancing the quality of care it delivers to over 300,000 patients every year, including underserved populations. I am confident that Deidra’s leadership and commitment will enhance our brand and our circle of friends.”

Of her appointment, Parrish Williams says, “Having lived, worked and raised a family on Long Island, I appreciate the critical role NuHealth plays, as a healthcare provider, employer, business partner and more. There are many exciting things happening there and I am looking forward to sharing them with the Long Island community.”

Prior to joining NuHealth, Ms. Parrish Williams was the director of community and media relations at Newsday where she served as company spokesperson and was responsible for communications, events, community programs and charitable giving. Under her leadership, Newsday’s corporate philanthropy experienced unprecedented gains in both visibility and charitable allocations to non-profit groups across Long Island. Additionally, she was a principal of a marketing communications firm, and she’s held management positions with Girl Scouts of the USA, Nassau County, and CMP Media.

She received a B.A. in journalism and media studies from Fordham University and studied strategic corporate citizenship at the Boston College School of Management. She sits on the board of the Energeia Partnership and Project GRAD Long Island. She has earned several community awards, including being named one of the Top 50 Women in Business by Long Island Business News. She and her husband Derrick have two teenage daughters and reside in Valley Stream.
