NORTH AMERICAN PARTNERS IN ANESTHESIA TO PROVIDE ADMINISTRATIVE LEADERSHIP FOR THE DEPARTMENT OF ANESTHESIA TO OPTIMIZE MANAGEMENT OF THE OPERATING ROOMS AND PERIOPERATIVE SERVICES AT NUMC

HIGHLY QUALIFIED AND SKILLED CLINICIANS, EXPERTS IN O.R. OPERATIONS, INCLUDING FLOW, SCHEDULE, QUALITY AND EFFICIENCY

East Meadow, NY…..Arthur A. Gianelli, President/CEO of the NuHealth System, announced that the North American Partners in Anesthesia (NAPA) will provide administrative leadership for the department of anesthesiology to optimize management of the operating rooms and perioperative services at the Nassau University Medical Center.

“NAPA is a recognized regional leader in anesthesia care.  This relationship will support our growing surgical programs,” said Gianelli.  “In addition to being highly qualified and skilled clinicians, NAPA clinicians are experts in operating room operations including flow, schedule, quality and efficiency.”

NAPA is an organization that provides anesthesia coverage in the Northeast, from Maine to New Hampshire, including most hospitals in the North Shore – LIJ Health System.

Steven J. Walerstein, MD, FACP, executive vice president for medical affairs and medical director at the NuHealth System, added:  “With our growing clinical relationship with the North Shore – LIJ Health System and with the potential for a North Shore/Hofstra School of Medicine based residency program in anesthesiology, this contract with NAPA will allow us to continue to provide the most up-to-date services in quality care to our patients.”

“In addition to providing anesthesia services, NAPA will supply a chairman for the department of anesthesiology at NUMC, helping to better manage the schedule of the operating procedures, thus enhancing our standing with the voluntary physician community.  Our physicians will be part of this effort and help us to bolster and attract other surgeons, an important step going forward,” concluded Gianelli.
