FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

NHCC RECEIVES UNANIMOUS APPROVAL FOR A. HOLLY PATTERSON 64 ACRE SUBDIVISION APPLICATION IN UNIONDALE FROM NASSAU COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION, AN IMPORTANT STEP IN THE PROCESS TO REDEVELOP THE PROPERTY INTO A CONTINUUM OF CARE SENIOR VILLAGE COMMUNITY

SUBDIVISON APPROVAL WILL PERMIT NHCC TO PROCEED WITH FINANCING AND CONSTRUCTION OF THE NEW A. HOLLY PATTERSON NURSING HOME IN UNIONDALE

NHCC WILL SUBMIT A REZONING APPLICATION TO THE TOWN OF HEMPSTEAD, FOR THE PARCEL INTENDED FOR SENIOR HOUSING/COMMERCIAL, TO REQUEST CHANGE OF ZONING TO ALLOW FOR REDEVELOPMENT IN ACCORDANCE WITH CONTINUUM OF CARE COMMUNITY

East Meadow, NY…..Arthur A. Gianelli, President/CEO of the Nassau Health Care Corporation (NHCC), announced that unanimous approval had been obtained from the Nassau County Planning Commission to subdivide NHCC’s 64 acre A. Holly Patterson Uniondale property.

“Receiving subdivision approval from the Nassau County Planning Commission is an important step in the process to redevelop the 64 acre property into a continuum of care senior village community.  Obtaining subdivision approval will allow us to rezone the property and to solicit proposals from interested parties to develop the property, consistent with our senior village master plan,” said Mr. Gianelli.

The subdivision approval created four lots, one for the new A. Holly Patterson nursing home, the second for the diagnostic and treatment center, the third for the assisted living facility and the fourth for the senior housing, commercial lot. The subdivision approval will permit the NHCC to proceed with financing and construction of the new nursing home in Uniondale.

The NHCC has been working with the Uniondale community and engaged in a series of visioning meetings during the last few years to obtain input from residents, business and community leaders as to the future of the entire 64 acre parcel. Community consensus is to redevelop the property with the new nursing home, the assisted living facility, senior housing, commercial, ball field, community center and open space.  The NHCC had retained the services of a land use planning firm to review the community input from the visioning meetings in order to come up with a comprehensive plan for the site.  The land use plan will be the basis for further environmental review, required by the New York State Environmental Quality Review Act, prior to any development of the acreage.

Larry Slatky, Senior Vice President for the A. Holly Patterson Extended Care Facility, was delighted to hear of the subdivision approval and said: “This sets the groundwork for the future of the A. Holly Patterson nursing home and its property, ultimately for the benefit of the residents of Nassau County in creating a senior health care village.”
