NASSSAU UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER’S HARVEY W. AIGES, MD, FAAP, CHAIRMAN OF PEDIATRICS, INCLUDED IN TOP DOCTORS LIST IN THE NEW YORK AREA

East Meadow, NY………Nassau University Medical Center is proud to announce the inclusion of Harvey W. Aiges, MD, FAAP, NUMC’s Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics, in Castle Connolly’s Guide Top Doctors:  New York Metro Area, 11th edition.

While congratulating Dr. Aiges on being included in such a prestigious list, Arthur A. Dr. Aiges had been the Vice Chairman in the Department of Pediatrics at Schneider’s Children’s Hospital at the North/Shore/LIJ Health System from 2000 until 2005.  From 1980 until 2002, Dr. Aiges had been the Pediatric Program Director at North Shore University Hospital and an attending gastroenterologist in the department. Dr. Aiges graduated from New York Medical College and completed his residency in pediatrics at Bronx Municipal Hospital Center.  From 1977 until 1979, Dr. Aiges completed his fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology at North Shore University Hospital and Cornell University Medical College and is certified by the American Board of Pediatrics,  Pediatric Subspecialty and Pediatric Gastroenterology.

Dr. Aiges has received numerous awards as Pediatrician Extraordinaire at North Shore University Hospital and Senior List Teaching Awards from Cornell University Medical College.  Active in many community organizations and having published extensively, Dr. Aiges has served on the Medical Advisory Board for the March of Dimes and the Board of Trustees of St. Mary’s Health System.

The selection process was a year-long process, with questionnaires sent to 16,000 top physicians
in the New York area.  Nominees were sought in almost every specialty, with the emphasis on direct patient care.  Varied criteria were used to determine physician eligibility for inclusion for professional qualifications including education, residency, and board certification fellowships with professional reputation including hospital appointment.
