NASSSAU UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER’S DAVID S. ROSENTHAL, MD, FACP, FACE, INCLUDED IN TOP DOCTORS LIST IN THE NEW YORK AREA

East Meadow, NY………Nassau University Medical Center is proud to announce the inclusion of David S. Rosenthal, MD, FACP, FACE, NUMC’s attending physician in the Division of Endocrinology in Castle Connolly’s Guide Top Doctors:  New York Metro Area, 11th edition.

While congratulating Dr. Rosenthal on being included in such a prestigious list, Arthur A. Upon Dr. Rosenthal’s return to Long Island in 1972, after serving as a Major in the United States Air Force Hospitals in Illinois and Thailand, he joined Island Medical Group, PC, in the private referral practice of endocrinology in Bethpage and later in Massapequa.  At that time, he also joined the voluntary attending staff at NUMC in the endocrinology division and became actively involved in the NUMC fellowship teaching program.  In 2006, he left private practice to devote all his professional time to NUMC as an attending physician.  His appointment at SUNY Stony Brook as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine has been continuous since 1972.

Dr. Rosenthal attended medical school at New York University and completed his residency in internal medicine at Wilfor Hall, US Airforce Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas.  His fellowship in the field of endocrinology, metabolism, diabetes and nuclear medicine was achieved at Boston University Medical Center.  Dr. Rosenthal is dually board certified on internal medicine and in endocrinology/metabolism.

Prior to 1972, Dr. Rosenthal served as the Chief of the Department of Medicine at the United States Air Force Regional Hospital in Chanute Air Force Base in Illinois from 1967 to 1970 at which point he served in the same capacity at U-Tapao, Thailand during the years 1970 and 1971.  In addition to serving as a Major in the US Air Force, Dr. Rosenthal also served as a consultant in internal medicine to the Surgeon General of the 13th Air Force during 1970 and 1971.

Dr. Rosenthal belongs to numerous professional societies, most notably the American College of Physicians as a Fellow of the American Society of Internal Medicine, as a Fellow of the American College of Endocrinology and the Society of Air Force Physicians.

The selection process was a year-long process, with questionnaires sent to 16,000 top physicians
in the New York area.  Nominees were sought in almost every specialty, with the emphasis on direct patient care.  Varied criteria were used to determine physician eligibility for inclusion for professional qualifications including education, residency, and board certification fellowships with professional reputation including hospital appointment.
