FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
NASSAU UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER TO HOST A “SOCK HOP” AND DINNER TO BENEFIT NASSAU UNIVERSITY MEDICAL CENTER’S NEW SEXUAL ASSAULT FORENSIC EXAMINER (SAFE) PROGRAM
East Meadow, NY … Nassau University Medical Center will be holding a 50’s “Sock Hop” and Dinner to benefit NUMC’s New Sexual Assault Assault Forensic Examiner (SAFE) Program on Wednesday, May 14, 2008. The event will take place at the Chateau Briand Restaurant, 440 Old Country Road, in Carle Place from 7:30 – 11:30 pm. The cost will be a $75 contribution.
In encouraging friends of the Nassau University Medical Center to attend, Arthur A. Gianelli, President/CEO said: “As the number of adults and children in Nassau County that require medical attention as a result of sexual assault increases, the Nassau Health Care Corporation, in cooperation with the Nassau Coalition against Domestic Violence, the Coalition against Child Abuse and Neglect, the Nassau County District Attorney, the Nassau County Attorney, the Nassau County Police Department and the Nassau Office for Child Protective Services, will establish a Sexual Assault Center of Excellence.”
The goal of the Center of Excellence is to provide timely, compassionate, patient-oriented health care in a private setting, which will provide emotional support and reduce further trauma to the victim through the intervention of a highly trained interdisciplinary Sexual Assault Response Team (SART).
