East Meadow, NY………. – Nassau University Medical Center President/CEO Dr. Victor F. Politi, will join with health officials at a press conference Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at 2 PM, in the lobby of Nassau University Medical Center, to discuss the recent explosion of ticks across Long Island, as well as offer safety and protection tips to local residents who may be in danger of exposure.
According to the National Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Lyme disease is the most commonly reported illness from a parasite in the United States and New York has the highest number of confirmed Lyme disease cases nationwide.
There is currently no vaccine for Lyme disease, meaning avoiding tick bites and early detection is critical.
