East Meadow, NY…..Arthur A. Gianelli, President/CEO of the Nassau Health Care Corporation received notification from the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF) President, Lisa Paulsen, that the Nassau University Medical Center (NUMC) had been awarded a $80,000 grant as a result of being a beneficiary of the 2008 EIF Revlon Run/Walk for Women.
NUMC has been a beneficiary and participant in the Revlon Run/Walk for Women and has been awarded, over the past ten years, $801,658, in aggregate from the EIF to support women battling cancer, especially women obtaining services in the National Mah Jongg League Foundation Breast Health Center at NUMC.
In extending good wishes for NUMC’s continued success, Ms. Paulsen stated: “The EIF is honored to support NUMC, a key partner in helping to ensure the success of the 2008 Revlon Run/Walk for Women in New York. Through your active involvement, your organization touches the lives of countless women and their families who are at risk of or are affected by cancer. The EIF is also proud to announce that the NUMC has been chosen to be a beneficiary of this year’s Revlon Run/Walk on May 2, 2009 in Times Square and Central Park.”
Mr. Gianelli, in expressing NUMC’s appreciation to the EIF for the grant said; “We are grateful that the EIF has supported our efforts on behalf of women battling breast cancer by awarding this significant grant to be used to support the Patient Navigation Program. This valuable program provides bilingual patient navigators to help women navigate through the health care system during their initial visit to our screening services, during follow-up to their breast exams and to help them secure available support services under the direction of the nurse case manager.”
The National Mah Jongg League Foundation Breast Health Center at NUMC provides vital, mammography services and guides mostly uninsured, underinsured and Medicaid patients with disease through the many treatment options available.
