MOHAMMED RAFIQUR-RAHMAN, RPH, NUMC’S ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF PHARMACY, HONORED BY NASSAU COUNTY EXECUTIVE SUOZZI AT THE SIXTH ANNUAL ASIAN-PACIFIC HERITAGE CELEBRATION FOR HIS OUTSTANDING LEADERSHIP AND GENEROUS ACTS OF PUBLIC SERVICE

East Meadow, New York….Mohammed Rafiqur-Rahman, RPh, NUMC’s assistant director of pharmacy, was recently honored by Nassau County Executive Suozzi at the Sixth Annual Asian-Pacific Heritage Celebration for his outstanding leadership and generous acts of public service.  “I wish to extend hearty congratulations to Mr. Mohammed Rafiqur-Rahman on his well-deserved recognition.  The award, presented by the Office of Minority Affairs in recognition of his contributions to the economic, social and cultural enrichment, is a token of our appreciation for his selfless service to the community,” said County Executive Suozzi.
 
Mohammed Rafiqur-Rahman received his bachelor of pharmacy with Honors from Dhaka University, Bangladesh.  During his university student life, he was the captain of the formerly East Pakistan (currently Bangladesh) combined university swimming team, represented in national swimming competition and had the honor of receiving many trophies.  In 1967, Mr. Rafiqur-Rahman received an invitation to represent Dhaka University in world universities swimming competition in Tokyo, Japan.

Mr. Rafiqur-Rahman came to the United States of America in 1973.  As a first generation immigrant, he knew that it was his duty to lay a strong foundation for the generations to come.  He was one of the founders of the Jamaica Muslim Center and subsequently served as the president.  Presently, he is the chairman of the board of trustees.  He is a life member of the Bangladeshi-American Pharmacist Association.  He enjoys helping and assisting people throughout the community, which was instilled in him by his mother during his childhood.
